Here you can see a video of neural activity with different neurons lighting up as they become active
————————————————————————————————————–
Here you can see how I used a genetically modified Rabies Virus to measure connections in the brain. All of the Green spots on these images are neurons that have been infected by rabies and made to express a green fluorescent protein normally found in glowing jelly fish!!!

My Typical Day:
I normally wake up early and go for a ride on my bike, then I head into the lab. If I’m working on teaching or writing I normally spend my time in my office, I take regular breaks for coffee, sweets and biscuits.
Otherwise I spend most of my day in the lab, I have to make new solutions every day and get set up. After lunch I go into the recording room to record from neurons. This room is normally completely dark as we use lots of sensitive equipment to measure light.
